Fab Bansuri is an organic electronic live show built for the dancefloor: bansuri flute, live looping, sound design — Indian and Oriental-flavoured house music that moves bodies from Brixton to Brussels.
Born in Paris to a classical piano teacher mother and a Breton bombarde-playing grandfather, he began with oboe at conservatoire, moved through a jazz school in Antwerp, and spent years living in Ireland. He went to India, living with a family of musicians, and received a joint ICCR / French Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarship — seven years studying directly under Hariprasad Chaurasia (Vrindaban Gurukul, Mumbai) and L. Subramaniam (Bangalore), two living legends of Indian classical music.
Back in Europe, he wanted to blow tradition open inside an electronic context. Using bansuri as the lead voice alongside loopers and synthesizers, he builds dense, hypnotic, danceable sound architectures live on stage. India, the Orient, Etruscan and Sumerian resonances: an imaginary geography that comes alive in performance.
He has shared stages and studios with Eric Mouquet (Deep Forest), Youth / Martin Glover (The Orb, Killing Joke), Didier Malherbe (Gong), Roy Wooten (5 Grammy Awards), Anindo Chatterjee, and Giridhar Udupa.
